„Payne“ is about the DJ Mat Payne, a fantastic person from London who helped me a lot some years ago to spread my music, when I was 19 or so – I’ll always be grateful to Mat Payne for his support. The first, „Tyme“, was from the TV serial „Lost“. But since it was too random I decided to put a Y. In terms of the ideas for the other tracknames: I get them from the Erol Alkan forum.

Yes, because my girlfriend is used to it. I let her listen to my stuff every day. She loves Jesper Dahlbäck.

Actually not. Groove is my priority. And I never start with thinking „Oh this is gonna be dark“. It just comes out dark, I don’t know why. I always try to make something new although it’s not easy. You can easily hear it if you go trough my discography, I’ve been evolving very fast I guess. My main inspiration is my life experience, which in musical case consists in DJ-sets I’ve seen: Brodinski, Ivan Smagghe, Sven Väth, Erol Alkan, Tiga. I try to keep what impressed me most of these sets, and do it my own way.

Definitely Tyme. With Tyme, I finally reached the sound I wanted for NT89: groovy, big, dark. And it was the first EP I was really happy of.

Yes but the nature of it it’s a secret. I can’t talk about it.

Dann verrate uns wenigstens was du von ihrem neuen Track hältst.
Church Of Noise is fantastic. People shouldn’t think about it as a dance track anymore. The Bloody Beetroots made it clear with their great live set. Bob is bringing a new sound: Quality one, but it’s not dance.

Well, first came my brother who brought me the first Daft Punk album when I was 10. Then I was listening to Tiga and Dj Hell. Then I started getting interested in producing, around 2003/04 – I was 14. So it was always about techno music for me, for the way I grew up and for my musical roots. I don’t have a pop or rock background, mine is just techno.

Was gefällt dir denn besser? Auflegen oder produzieren?
It’s weird, I have both souls. I have strong producer soul, but also a strong DJ soul. I love both to death.

Wo würdest du am liebsten mal spielen?
I would love to play in Berlin because I never played there, although I have tons of friends in Berlin, like DIM, Djedjotronic, Das Glow and so on. My dream is to make a 4h set: from start to end, from disco to techno, and to deep dark disco again. I would be the happiest man alive. I once did a 4h set downstairs at Trouw in Amsterdam (Erol Alkan was playing in the other room): best gig of my life: I played everything I wanted and people went mental.
